Slitherlink is a free Slitherlink puzzle game with optional online leaderboard functionality. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the application handles information.

Summary: Slitherlink works fully offline. Puzzle progress is stored locally on your device. To participate in the global leaderboard, minimal anonymous data (device ID, player name, and puzzle stats) is synced to our database. This data is never linked to your identity and is never shared with third parties.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Locally Stored Data (On Your Device)

Slitherlink stores the following data locally on your device only:

Puzzle progress (solved puzzles, hint usage, completion times)
Game preferences (theme, sound settings, haptics settings)
Streak data (daily streak, winning streak)
Player display name (optional, user-entered)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly opt in to leaderboard sync (see below).

1.2 Data Synced for Global Leaderboard (Optional)

To enable global leaderboard rankings, Slitherlink may sync:

A unique, anonymous device identifier (generated locally, not linked to your personal identity)
Your player display name (as you set it in the app)
Puzzle completion statistics (number of solves, fastest times, streaks)

This sync is offline-first: data is queued locally and synced to our database when the device has an internet connection. You can disable leaderboard sync in Settings at any time.

1.3 What We Do NOT Collect

No email address or phone number
No real name or identity information
No location data
No device hardware identifiers beyond the app-generated anonymous ID
No advertising SDKs or tracking analytics
No analytics or behavioural data

2. How We Use Your Data

Data synced to our leaderboard database is used solely to:

Display your rank and statistics on the global leaderboard
Show your player name alongside your achievements
Enable fair ranking across all players

We do not sell, rent, or share this data with advertisers, analytics providers, or any third party.

3. Permissions

The app does not request access to sensitive device permissions such as camera, microphone, contacts, location, or photo library.

4. Backend Services

Slitherlink uses Google Firebase (Realtime Database) to store and retrieve leaderboard data. Firebase is a secure, industry-standard service operated by Google. Your synced data is stored in Firebase's database in the Asia Southeast 1 region.

5. Data Deletion

Local data: Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage through your device settings will permanently delete all locally stored puzzle progress and preferences.

Leaderboard data: To request deletion of your data from the leaderboard database, contact us at the email below. Deletion is permanent and your rank will no longer appear on the leaderboard.

6. Children's Privacy

Slitherlink is suitable for a general audience. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
