Birthday Buddy is a birthday and anniversary reminder app that helps you remember important dates and generate personalised messages for your loved ones. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Birthday Buddy stores the following information locally on your device only:

When you tap "Generate Message" in the App, the following limited information is sent to our Firebase Cloud Function backend to generate personalised birthday or anniversary messages:
This information is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our Firebase Cloud Function, which calls the Anthropic Claude AI API to generate message suggestions. This data is used solely to generate the message and is not stored, logged, or retained by our backend after the response is returned to your device.

Birthday Buddy schedules local notifications on your device to remind you of upcoming birthdays and anniversaries. These notifications are processed entirely on your device and do not involve any external servers or data transmission. Notification scheduling requires the notification permission, which you can grant or revoke at any time through your device settings.
Birthday Buddy uses Expo's OTA update service to deliver improvements directly to your device. During an update check, the App makes a network request to Expo's update servers to determine whether a new JavaScript bundle is available. No personal data or device identifiers are included in this request beyond standard HTTP metadata (such as IP address) handled by Expo's infrastructure. All birthday and anniversary data, preferences, and settings are stored entirely on your local device using AsyncStorage. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App will permanently delete all stored information. No backup or sync to any cloud service is performed.

No advertising networks, analytics platforms, or behavioural tracking tools are integrated.
Google Play may collect standard technical information as part of its platform operations. Please refer to Google's privacy policy for more details.
Birthday Buddy is suitable for users of all ages. The App does not require registration and does not display advertisements. The only external data transmission occurs during AI message generation, which sends only a name, age, and relationship type — no personally identifiable information about the user themselves.
Since Birthday Buddy does not collect or retain personally identifiable information on any server, there is no personal data held by us to request, correct, or delete. All your data is stored on your own device and can be cleared at any time by clearing the App's local storage or uninstalling the App.
All network requests made by Birthday Buddy, including AI message generation and OTA update checks, use HTTPS exclusively. No sensitive personal data is transmitted over any network.
If future updates to the App introduce features that require additional data collection or new permissions, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
